Check out the Steven Colbert "On Notice Board" Generator. Now you can call out those that you find objectionable with your own On Notice Board, just like on The Colbert Report. What out "Chicago Bears," you're on notice.

Sa da tay to the tipi tais!
Ok, it's been bugging me for weeks and I finally figuted it out. Parker's jibberish and baby talk reminded me of someone, but I couldn't place it. Well, yesturday, I finally placed it. He sounds just like the Lance Crouther character Pootie Tang, in the movie of the same name. Daddy Roach needs to get Parker a magic belt like Daddy Tang got for Pootie. Now to find a Piggly Wiggly......... Cole me down on the panny sty!

Roach brothers
I found this picture digging through boxes of my parents' old photos. This is me and my brother George on the fence behind our old house on Grant Street in Lebanon. Ain't we cute? This must have been around 1979. That's the Lebanon High School in the background.

The stage is set!
The stage is set for the big AFC Championship game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots Sunday. The winner goes to the Super Bowl, the loser goes home. Man, that would be a fun game to attend. Sports rivalries always make the game more exciting, no matter if it's DePauw/Wabash, Pacers/Knicks or Colts/Patriots. The Colts have lost to the Patriots in the playoffs in two of the last three years, including their last shot at the AFC Championship in 2004. It reminds me of some of the great Indiana Pacers vs. NY Knicks NBA playoff series during the 1990s. The Pacers and Knicks matched up 6 times in the decade and ended up splitting the series 3-3. It made for a great rivalry, especially when the Pacers beat the Knicks in 2000 it to make it to the NBA finals. Here's the Colts playoff history in the Peyton Manning era, if anyone is interested. Go Blue!

Boynton books/CDs for a good cause
If you have a toddler like we do, they you can't get away from Sandra Boynton's infectiously silly board books. Ms. Boynton has also released a few book and CD combos. Kohls department stores currently have all three of Ms. Boynon's book/CD combos available for only $5 each! This includes Dog Train, Philadelphia Chickens, and Rhinoceros Tap. These are part of the Kohls Cares for Kids program. Kohls offers books, CDs and plush animals from famous artists and authors for low prices and all proceeds go to benefit health and educational opportunities for children. In the past we've bought Christmas CDs and books by Dr. Seuss, Doreen Cronin and Eric Carle through the Kohls Care for Kids offers. Check it out at a Kohls near you!

Play-Doh Cologne?
I found this on the web today. It's definitely bizarre. A company called Perpetual Kid is offering a Limited Edition Cologne that smells like Play-Doh, in commemoration of the modeling clay's 50th birthday. The web site states that the fragrance is "meant for highly-creative people, who seek a whimsical scent reminiscent of their childhood." What's next? Candy that tastes like white paste?

A Day On, Not a Day Off
Next Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For most of us, this day comes and goes, without must notice. Many employers do not even observe the Holiday. For others, it's a chance to serve their community. This year Cathy and I have the opportunity to spend our morning volunteering with a local social service organization through First United Methodist Church. I encourage everyone to volunteer time in their community Monday or some other time over the long weekend.

New Presidential Dollar Coins
The US Mint has decided that the reason people haven't been using the "golden" Sacagawea $1 coin is because the don't like the design. Huh? Did they ever stop to think it was because the $1 bill is still in wider circulation than the coin? I have never once received a $1 coin in change anywhere other than the post office.
While I think their logic is flawed, I do like the new design. Starting this year, the Mint will release four dollar coins a year featuring the faces of all the US presidents in order of their presidency. So, if you've always wondered why Hoosier president William Henry Harrison has never been honored with a coin, you can stop complaining. His Dollar will be release din 2009. Grover Cleveland will have two coins in 2012. Between now and Unfortunately, there won't be a William Jefferson Clinton coin scheduled just yet. The Mint doesn't put images of living people on coins (except in the strange case of Eunice Shriver on the 1995 Special Olympics commemorative Silver Dollar). The last scheduled coin is for Richard Nixon in 2016. I wonder if a Gerald Ford coin will be added to the program? Reagan will probably have to wait until after Jimmy Carter's death, but hopefully the 82 year old Carter won't be going anywhere for a while.
